E-Bike ADVENTURES

All Year Round

E-biking has made our vast playground and tours more accessible and adventurous than ever. And our e-Bike packages aren’t just an adaptation of our regular tours – they are completely custom-built to make the most of what e-Bikes are capable of nowadays.

WHAT WE OFFER

Every package we offer has an e-Bike version. We’ve fine-tuned our regular day adventures to suit e-Biking, making dedicated climbs on singletrack, extending ride times in the saddle, whilst still delivering the best descents our trail network has to offer. We’ve also created some unique days designed specifically for e-Bikes to mix in with our classic days out.

Check out the available e-Bike packages below. They will link you to our regular packages to give you the overview of how the week will pan out. Prices, accommodation and basics are the same, but if you book it as an e-Bike trip, each day is curated as a dedicated e-Bike day.

LOGISTICS

We still use our van and trailer to get you to the trailhead, so you can focus on the ride without worrying about battery life. Our days are all about having fun while staying challenging, and our guides are there to help you manage power modes to ensure your battery lasts the full day. Built into our days are logistical support throughout, including our team to set up charging points for you at lunch time and even dedicated certified e-Bike mechanics with software computers for error codes and electrical problems.

THE RIDING

Who’s it for?

Our dedicated e-Bike tours are specifically created with e-Bikes in mind, so therefore are only open to those with e-MTBs.

We have designed our days to fit to either SL e-Bikes or full powered e-Bikes, so feel free to come on either style e-Bike.

As there is some technical climbing on singletrack and uphill switchbacks, it is recommended that you have some previous experience on e-Bikes before coming on these trips if you are transitioning from a regular bike.

EXPERIENCE THE MOUNTAIN HUT ADVENTURE

You can get a taster of the mountain hut tour available in the Backcountry Adventure trip, and the stunning scenery here in a video we did with EMBN.

If you have any further questions regarding the tour or how to book with us, don’t hesitate to contact us on info@ridgeline.bike.

FAQ

How much climbing is involved in a day?

The riding in the Apennines and Apuan Alps is incredibly diverse, from open fast flowing runs to steep rocky technical descents by the coast. You can expect to be climbing a minimum of 500m a day and to up to 2000m if desired, but expect an average of about 1000m per day. Hike a bike and some pushing to get you to the endless descents is always part of our backcountry adventure.

Please note that most of the days can be modified with the amount of climbing and level of shuttle support. However, be prepared to put in the climbs to be rewarded of being in some of the most beautiful remote peaks that hardly anyone ventures to.

Do I need to bring my own bike or can I hire one from you?

Feel free to bring your own e-Bike on the trip, along with charger and any dedicated spares you might need. If you don’t have an e-Bike, can’t bring it on the plane, or simply want to give it a first go, we can organise a bike for you as we partner with a PON for bikes like Santa Cruz and Focus along with local bike shops that can provide GAS GAS e-Bikes.

We have a number of brands and models at our disposal for you to rent during your time here with us. Please enquire as to what is available for your trip as these models are test bikes and can change over the season.

Our prices start at €400 per week for a full suspension e-MTB, minimum 630wh battery.

What e-Bike is best suited for the riding with you?

Both SL and full-powered models are welcome! All of our climbs and dedicated e-Bike trails are manageable on each style bike, and we have curated our tours to manage both systems. A full suspension bike is not 100% required but highly recommended.

We are happy to mix up SL and full-powered e-Bikes in a group, but due to the power difference in output, we ride to the speed of the SL bikes to keep everyone together.

Our guides help with advising what power mode to use, so as to allow the battery to last the full day. In general, we have created each day to be achieved by a 500wh battery on a full-powered e-Bike using a charge over lunch time.

Do I need to carry my e-Bike charger during the tours?

Normally no, but on one or two of the days you’ll need to carry your charger in your riding bag, but spare batteries aren’t required. So if you prefer to ride with a bum bag, then ensure to bring a spare regular sized bag for those days too.

On some of the days we will have the van to support us in taking the power chargers for us, and other days we are so remote that we will need to be self-sufficient and bring them with us in our back packs. Please consider this when choosing the right backpack for the trip.

Is there technical support available for e-Bikes?

In our valley we have a dedicated e-Bike technician who is certified to work on most motor and battery brands for any technical support that might be needed during your trip with us, be it your own or hire bike.

Can the riding be customised to fit the skills and fitness of our group/riders?

Yes. We have the option to customise your tour to meet your fitness, preferred riding and amount of uplift support you wish for the trip. Due to our vast and diverse playground, we have the option to either focus on ensuring you spend the whole day in the backcountry with only pedal power to get you through, or the van and trailer can support during the day.

We normally plan on one overnight stop as part of this tour, but we have the flexibility to add another overnight stop in another mountain hut, or to add an extra day of riding to maximise your time on the bike for your trip with us. Just get in touch and we can plan your week together: info@ridgeline.bike

Do you offer alpine riding coaching?

Definitely. Everyone should have the chance to hone their Alpine skills whilst on a riding holiday and in this unique environment. Our guides provide free tutorials to coach and improve techniques like switchbacks, manuals, vision and trail awareness, but also basic suspension and bike set-up advice.
